Apple iOS 5 iMessage
by Niknok Seyer on Oct.14, 2011, under Tech Zone, Tutorials
So, I’ve been trying out the iMessage feature of iOS 5 is so far it’s awesome. Sending images made easier now. =P
You can actually use any ‘email’ (your Apple ID mail by default) and / or your phone number as your iMessage ID.
Personally and obviously, who would want to share his / her phone number publicly right ?
So, there are signs to find out if your friends have iMessage activated.
One is they have the iMessage icon (blue speech balloon) on their names.
And another is there’s an iMessage text with low opacity before you type a message.
Some tips I’ve discovered so far,
Turning this off will not charge you in case your friend with iMessage doesn’t have an internet connection.
Turning this on will automatically send it as SMS if your friend doesn’t have an internet connection.
Feel free to explore it and post up some of your experience !

hi, I dowloaded iOS5 too and update my ipod, however, iMessage doesnt seem to work when I sent an iMessage to someone’s iPhone in the US who is also running iOS5. Do you think Philippines is not supported?
Or did iMessage worked in your iPhone? did you try sending friends in the US?
Thank you very much.

Yes, I did and it worked. Even for Europe. Just remember that you should have internet (wifi / 3g) in order to send and receive an iMessage.
You can also try adding them to your contact through their Apple ID.
